Independent rental value & downtime analysis
Loss of Use.
A clearer picture
of the loss.
When a vehicle is out of service, the rental value deserves the same care as the damage appraisal. SCS connects comparable rental evidence with supported downtime in one clear, reviewable report.

More than a daily rate
Document the rental value.
Support the downtime.
A useful report explains how the evidence fits the assignment. SCS separates the requested period from the supported period and shows the reasoning behind the selected rental rate.
Comparable replacement
We research rental evidence for a suitable replacement class in the relevant market, seeking three independent sources where available. Rates, terms, availability evidence and limitations are identified.
Dates with support
We review the supplied repair timeline and records to identify the supported period. Gaps, disputed dates and material assumptions are explained instead of being treated as established facts.
A calculation you can follow
The report shows the rate basis, billing units and supported mandatory charges, with documented overlapping transportation payments accounted for separately.

Attach what you can
Good records make
the picture clearer.
You do not need every document to start a request. Send what is available and identify any missing records. Specialty vehicles, equipment and complex downtime require scope and fee confirmation.
- Assignment sheet, claim details and vehicle information
- Repair estimate, supplements and final invoice
- Repair timeline, parts records and availability notices
- Rental agreements, quotes, receipts and payment records
- Relevant correspondence about delays or disputed dates
Before you submit
A few common questions.
Is this the same as a valuation or diminished value report?
No. A valuation addresses the asset's market value. Diminished value addresses a supported loss in market value after repair. Loss of Use & Rental Value addresses the rental value of a comparable replacement during a supported period of unavailability. Related reports can be requested as separate assignments.
Do I need to have rented a replacement vehicle?
You can submit a request even if no rental was obtained. Tell us whether a replacement was rented and provide any receipts or payments. Whether a particular loss is recoverable depends on the applicable claim circumstances; SCS documents rental value and factual downtime support.
How are past rental dates handled?
Date-relevant evidence is preferred. If a current-market rate is used as a comparison for a past period, the report identifies it as a proxy and explains its limitations. A current listing is not represented as a historical rental quote.
Can SCS review a specialty vehicle or equipment assignment?
Contact SCS with the asset type, location, required replacement features and requested dates. We will confirm the scope, available rental evidence and fee before specialty work begins.

SCS provides independent rental value and factual downtime analysis. Reports do not determine insurance coverage, fault, legal entitlement or a guaranteed recovery. Findings depend on the records and rental evidence available for the stated assignment.
