Total Loss Vehicle Valuation

A clearer picture of your vehicle’s pre-loss value.

A vehicle-specific valuation built around priced market comparables, supported adjustments, and a documented SCS opinion of value.

For vehicle owners, insureds, adjusters, and insurance carriers seeking an independent assessment of fair market value or actual cash value.

What your report includes

Market evidence. Meaningful adjustments.
A clear written opinion.

The analysis considers the actual vehicle, its condition before the loss, its equipment, and the market as of the report’s effective date.

Priced market comparables

Dealer and private-party listings provide a broader view of asking prices. Sources and prices are documented; duplicate vehicles do not count twice.

Apples-to-apples comparisons

Supported corrections address differences in mileage, trim, powertrain, equipment, title history, and condition. The report shows the original and adjusted prices.

A documented valuation

Selected adjusted comparables and available book values inform the final opinion. The report identifies its sources, effective date, assumptions, and limitations.

Your vehicle’s details matter

Replacement parts.
Aftermarket equipment.
Documented consideration.

Tell us about replacement engines or transmissions, wheels and tires, suspension, winches, lighting, audio equipment, toolboxes, and other installed upgrades.

The insured or adjuster can enter these details on the initial form. SCS considers the receipts, installation date, condition, vehicle fit, and whether the same equipment is already reflected in a comparable.

What to have ready

  • Vehicle VIN, trim, mileage, and location
  • Date of loss or requested valuation date
  • Photos and pre-loss condition details
  • Upgrade invoices, costs, and installation dates
  • Replacement component details and miles since installation, when known

Supported value, without double counting. An upgrade’s purchase price is not automatically added to the vehicle’s value. SCS guidelines and available evidence account for age, condition, and market relevance. Missing or unsupported information is disclosed and may result in no adjustment.

Common questions

Before you order.

Who can request a report?

A vehicle owner, insured, adjuster, insurance representative, or other authorized submitter can complete the intake form. Provide the vehicle and claim information you have; leave uncertain facts blank so they can be reviewed.

Are both dealer and private-party comparables used?

Yes. The valuation calls for at least three priced dealer comparables and two priced private-party comparables. If enough suitable listings cannot be found automatically, manual research is required to complete the evidence. Both seller types receive the same supported adjustment process.

Will the comparables be adjusted to match my vehicle?

Supported adjustments account for differences such as mileage, trim, powertrain, equipment, title history, and pre-loss condition. Matching attributes need no adjustment. Unknown details and unsupported dollar amounts are disclosed as limitations.

Do I need to buy a KBB or NADA valuation?

No separate book-value purchase is required to submit your request. Available book values can be considered alongside the adjusted comparables. A specific licensed book source is not guaranteed in every report.

Does a new engine or an upgrade add its full cost?

No. A replacement component or aftermarket upgrade is evaluated for its supported contribution to vehicle value. Receipts, age, condition, market relevance, and equipment already reflected in the comparables matter. Replacement work does not reset the vehicle’s odometer.

What happens after checkout?

Complete the Vehicle Valuation Form using your order email, and include the order number in the final notes field. If you already submitted the form, contact SCS with your order and request numbers so the records can be matched.

Does the report guarantee an insurance payout?

No. The report is an independent opinion of value based on the information and market evidence available for its effective date. Final claim settlement depends on the policy and the insurance carrier. The report includes its assumptions, limitations, and legal disclaimer.
