With the introduction of Car-Fax and similar enterprises, along with new accident disclosure regulations, the frequency of Diminished Value claim filings has increased significantly. Some dealerships have even begun to refuse vehicles that have been involved in previous accidents. As a result, Diminished Value online companies have appeared all over the internet. Unfortunately, many of these companies arbitrarily and inaccurately use percentages ranging from 50% to 75% to calculate diminution of value. Conversely, inexperienced auto damage appraisal companies are utilizing low-ball, generic formulas that lack credibility.

In 2011, Specialized Claims Synergy (SCS) began to investigate diminished value of vehicles. SCS initiated this research by consulting with dealers and wholesalers to determine what factors they consider when evaluating a vehicle's diminished value. Utilizing this information, SCS developed our own proprietary algorithm to calculate diminished value.
